Freeze International My Radio Live Broadcast - 3/5/11

Bio: Jason "J Rocca" Adams

Jason Adams aka J Rocca was born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn, to parents Irma and Micheal (also New York natives). However, his Trinidadian grandmother had a major influence, teaching him to embrace both cultures. J Rocca’s parents also played an integral role in his love for music. With his mother’s love for R&B and Soul music, and his father’s occupation as DJ and R&B singer, he appreciated a wide variety of music.

J Rocca’s love for music was evident at an early age. His parents bought him a drum set for Christmas at the age of 4 and he played constantly. Having a trained ear lead to him playing in a jazz band for over a decade. Playing the drums helped him to easily adapt to the different rhythms of various genres. Just as Jazz has evolved so has he, honing his harmonious talents to the different sounds of music. Trips to his grandmother’s house brought sweet sounds of classic Calypso from Sparrow, Kitchener, Arrow, and Shadow just to name a few. They added to his musical archive and increased his versatility.

In his 20s, J Rocca participated in talent shows as an R&B singer. There he witnessed the power of music. While in Brooklyn, he would frequent clubs like Tilden Hall, Soca Arena, and Caribbean City. He was bowled over by the way the masses moved to the tunes and how the DJ could control the crowds’ emotions thru song, making DJing irresistible.

J Rocca moved to DC in 2001 and hit the club scene hard. Going to clubs like Platinum, H20, 1223, TNT Clubhouse, and Crossroads, the passion to DJ was intensified and it was only a matter of time before "J Rocca the DJ" was born. At the age of 26, his career in DJing began.
Prior to joining Freeze Int'l, J Rocca was playing at house parties in DC along side his good friend Baje Man. He also played at The Crossroads Nightclub along side DJ Super Slice.

In 2009, he was introduced to a man named Sean (Freeze) Jennings through his good friend Baje Man to do his logo. From there, Freeze and J Rocca's bond was solidified. Ultimately, he joined forces with his right hand man, Sean, who formed Freeze International in memory of his late father. While with Freeze, they played for the Virgin Islands Association boat ride, on the road for DC Carnival, and on the truck for Break-Awae’ Kru crew in Miami Carnival and for Odyssey Blue for Labor Day in NYC.

"There is more to us other than music. Our vision for 2011 and beyond is to make sure you know our name "Freeze International" is here to stay... Bringing Soca and all genres of music to the people." J Rocca now resides in Orlando, Florida, ready to hit the clubs and give them a taste of what he has to offer.

"With a tight management team and supporting staff, we can’t be stopped!"
